This is a project which is based on a Wintercroft masks. They have a geometric and “low poly” visual style.
Wintercroft masks
“Low poly”
This term comes from the 3D scope. The three-dimensional models are composed by polyon meshes. The higher the number of polygons, the higher the model resolution will be and vice versa. Therefore, the expression “low poly” or “low polygon” means a low-resolution model.
Now I will show some examples.
Creation process
- Tracing of the template front side (with Autodesk AutoCad)
- Drawing of the guidelines for the side-face (with Autodesk AutoCad)
- Side-face tracing (with Autodesk AutoCad)
- Mask side-face adaptation to my side-face (with Autodesk AutoCad)
- Conversion to volume (from 2D to 3D) (with Sketchup)
- Conversion to 2D template (faces unfolding until getting the plain template) (with Sketchup)
- Tabs creation for the following adhesion (with Autodesk AutoCad)
- Template import from Autocad to Illustrator
- Assembling the mask with the final material (210 g/m2 cardboard)
- Spray painting
